Savannah – Places to see and things to enjoy
The city of Savannah, or more importantly its historic district, has wonderful sights and engaging activities that have a never-ending appeal for its visitors. In the present age when almost everything is disposable, the architecture of Savannah, which includes the 18th century and 19th century streets and constructions, impresses every tourist.

Tybee Island Beach: One must visit this beach on Tybee Island during a trip to Savannah. Previously known as Savannah Beach, this beach has long served as Savannah’s Atlantic Ocean playground. A day on Tybee Island Beach is complete fun with sun, food and shopping.
River Street: A trip to Savannah has to include a trip down the popular River Street. While the Savannah River borders River Street on one side, numerous shops and restaurants line it on the other. River Street also hosts many annual celebrations like fireworks on New Year’s Eve and July 4 and the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
City Market: An almost eternal presence, the City Market in the historic district originally started in the year 1755 as a market selling fish, game and harvest. The ancient structure has long perished, but the Historical Savannah Foundation has built a redesigned market at the same site. This beautiful town center presently has restaurants, cafes, pubs, specialty outlets and even art galleries. Live bands perform in the courtyards during weekends. The City Market also serves as a starting point for many carriage and trolley tours.
Forsyth Park: It is a beautiful park covering thirty acres of land. The major attraction of this park is a cast iron fountain, which was purchased from France in the year 1851. Forsyth Park is a lovely site to walk around, enjoy a picnic and click a few snaps. Visitors often enjoy a game of rugby or frisbee if the weather is pleasant. The park also has a nice playground for the children.
Carriage Tours of Savannah: One must enjoy one of the horse-drawn carriage tours of Savannah in order to know about the rich heritage of the city and the historic district. These tours continue for nearly an hour and enlighten the riders about the city’s glorious past. Couples can opt for special romantic tours.
